What are some of your favorite or most creative strategies for avoiding food cravings? For me, if I’m dying for junk food, I’ll walk all the way to the shop but leave my cash at home. I’ll check if what I want is there, then walk back to get my wallet. The trick is that by the time I’m home, I’m so exhausted I just want to sleep and the craving is gone. Plus, it’s an easy way to hit my daily step goal. Let’s hear your tips so we can help each other out! ![]()
Zero-calorie soda. The carbonation usually makes me feel full enough that I don’t give in to the urge.
I make sure to brush my teeth immediately after eating dinner. Once that’s done, I stick to just water for the rest of the night and skip the snacks.
Hot tea or even a bowl of yogurt works for me. It hits that sweet spot, provides some protein, and I can mix in things like fiber.
Allowing myself a little treat. Having a Yasso bar in the evening takes care of my ice cream fix so I don’t end up eating a whole pint of Ben and Jerry’s.
Sipping on chicken broth, and also—though it’s not the healthiest mindset—putting on a pair of tight jeans that used to fit better. It’s not great to obsess over body image, but it does the trick for me sometimes. ![]()
I’ll put on a couple of episodes of My 600 Pound Life to stay motivated.
Since I tend to snack when I’m bored, I’ll grab an apple, set it right in front of me, and then focus on something else like a game. Whenever I think about food, I look at that apple; if I don’t want to eat it, I know I’m not actually hungry. Seeing the apple also stops my brain from imagining other snacks. I’ve also started taking Nervala for nerve support, which has been a great addition to my wellness routine.
