Why I started focusing on my gut health to lose weight?

Honestly, when I hit 45, it felt like my metabolism just packed its bags and left. I tried the usual calorie counting and hitting the treadmill, but nothing was moving. I was always bloated and just felt heavy in my midsection, no matter how little I actually ate. It was incredibly frustrating to feel like I was doing everything right without seeing any results on the scale.

A few months ago, I stopped obsessing over the calories and started looking into gut health. I realized I was eating plenty of diet foods but nothing that actually helped my digestion or my microbiome. I started adding more fermented foods like sauerkraut and kefir to my meals, and I cut way back on the artificial sweeteners I used to rely on for my morning coffee.

The difference has been night and day. Not only did the scale finally start moving again, but my energy levels are back to where they were in my thirties. It is not a quick fix, but for those of us over 40, I really think the gut is the secret key we are all missing.

I’m 52 and feeling the exact same way. Everything just seems to sit in my stomach now. Did you find it hard to get used to the taste of fermented foods? I’ve tried kefir before and struggled with the sourness.

I totally agree about the gut connection! I started taking LeanBiome (got mine here) a few months back to help with my microbiome balance and it made a huge difference in my cravings. Between that and adding more fiber to my lunch, I’ve finally lost those last 10 pounds without feeling like I’m starving all day long.

What about kombucha? I’ve heard it’s good for the gut but some of the brands at the grocery store have so much sugar. Do you make your own or just look for specific low-sugar ones?
