Many of us focus solely on calories, but our internal environment matters just as much. As we age, our digestive efficiency changes, which can stall progress even on a perfect keto plan.
First, consider your daily routine. Are you rushing through meals? Stress during eating stops proper digestion. Second, look at your fiber environment. Many keto dieters cut out too many plants, starving the “good” bacteria that help regulate metabolism.
Small adjustments to how you eat and what you feed your gut can finally break that plateau.

This is so true. I was doing strict keto but felt like a balloon. Once I added some probiotic foods, the scale actually started moving again.

I always forget about the rushing part. I usually eat lunch at my desk while answering emails. Definitely not helping my digestion or my stress levels.

I’ve been working on my gut health too, but honestly, the biggest change for me at 52 was addressing some of the “downstairs” issues that come with age and weight. I started taking NewEra Protect (i order from here) for my bladder control and pelvic tone, and feeling more comfortable physically has actually made it easier to stay active and stick to my diet.

What are your favorite keto-friendly fiber sources? I struggle to get enough without going over my carb limit and it makes me feel sluggish.

Chia seeds and flax are my go-to. I put them in everything. It makes a massive difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit. Also, leafy greens are non-negotiable for me now.

Great post. We focus so much on the “what” that we forget the “how” and the internal mechanics of our bodies. Thanks for the reminder.
